Since you were led to this website, it is very likely that we are very much like you.
Whatever our individual differences may appear to be, we are all powerfully drawn to the Unity principles of spirituality: God-centered living, the sacredness of all Life, a loving, non-judgemental relationship with our fellow beings, a committment to ongoing spiritual and personal growth, and individual responsibility.
We value and respect diversity; we have no militant need to make 'converts' or to persuade everyone to think and believe as we do. On the other hand, if your journey leads you to our door, we welcome you without insisting that you conform to our particular pattern. You are a unique child of God, just as we are; that recognition is sufficient.
We are fully aware of worldly events and conditions, but we do not discuss or lament those matters in church. Negativity and judgement have no place in our sanctuary; this does not mean that we imitate ostriches, burying our heads in the sand, pretending that violence, dishonesty, greed, and all the other ills of the world either do not exist or will somehow go away if we ignore them. Nor do we waste each other's time and energy with "Ain't it awful?!" or similar verbal quicksand. We believe that our role is to love and bless whatever is dysfunctional, and to hold such matters in our prayers, privately.
Specifically, we practice Peace. Someone has said, "There is no way to Peace; Peace is the Way." We do not pray for peace, asking for something we lack; we pray Peace...by being that Peace in ourselves. Our Peace Song says it very well: "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me..." We trust the holographic universe to reflect that Peace throughout Itself.
In other words, we endeavor to adhere consistently to our Unity
Statement:
"We believe in our oneness with all life and the power of
love. We teach universal principles and values, as taught by
Jesus and others, revealing the one God Presence. We practice
prayer, meditation and service as our primary means of becoming
conscious of our oneness in God."
We also enjoy each other's company... for worship, for meditation, for any opportunity to celebrate (nearly always with an abundance of food!), or simply to bask in an atmosphere of loving acceptance. When you walk in our door for the first time, you are not a stranger; you are one of us who hasn't been with us before.
If anything you find in these pages strikes a responsive chord, if you like friendly people with no axe to grind, or if you are just curious, we invite you to experience us for yourself. You will find that you are, indeed, welcome.
