I have lived just about anywhere an oil or gas well could be drilled. That includes South
America, England, and all over the southern United States. I call West Texas home and the Unity Church of Lubbock
is my extended family. When I was about 16 years old, I promised God I would be a missionary. In those days, women weren’t accepted as ministers in the church I attended. On further investigation, I discovered that single women were not deemed suitable in the mission field either. For years I asked God for a ministry and finally understood that I didn’t have to stand behind the pulpit or go to Africa to serve. No matter where I went, I was presented with opportunities to share The Word. I did it willingly, but there always seemed to be that longing to fulfill my promise. In 1976 I began to ‘seriously’ study New Thought, when I was invited to attend a study group in Midland, Texas. I knew right away I had found what I had been searching for. Our group finally established a church, hired a minister, and I began to take every class available. I became a Practitioner, worked as a lay minister, developed and facilitated workshops and seminars, and substituted for full-time ministers in a couple of different denominations. |

It was while presenting a Personal Growth workshop that I met Rollie Hyde, who was to become my very dear friend, my spiritual partner, and my husband. We married on New Year’s Eve, 1989, and six months later moved to Plainview, Texas. We soon discovered the closest church of choice for us was the Unity Church in Lubbock. For eleven years we have driven almost one hundred miles roundtrip each Sunday to worship there. Rollie is the publisher of the Plainview Daily Herald, a Hearst newspaper. He is also the most civic-minded and active human I have ever known. He truly lives the Unity Life. He believes in giving of time, talent, and treasure. I am very proud that he chose to spend his life with me. Although I was ordained in another church, I was offered the position as Pastor
of the Unity Church of Lubbock. I feel that Spirit led me to accept that position, and I have never been so happy
and fulfilled. I believe I am doing the job I was created to do. UNITY IS LOVE IN ACTION. Email: unity@texasonline.net. If you’d like more information about Unity Church of Lubbock or the Unity Movement, please feel free to call the church at 806-762-8194. |
