Unity Church of Today is a center for personal and collective spiritual growth; a place to discover, to communicate, to become aware, to heal, and to experience joy and peace. Guided by the spirit of God, its foundation and principles are established upon the teachings of Christ to promote Universal Love and Truth.

Below is a sample of a class from one of our Sunday School Units. As soon as we get our own web server each unit and associated activities will be archived for the purpose of sharing and enhancing instruction. Currently, a template is under construction for this purpose.

David and Golliath

Themantic Unit on Power

David and Golliath: This ancient and popular biblical story is used to help our children identify and confront the Golliaths in their everyday lives. Throughout the mounth of June the progression of the Sunday School lessons starts with the background of the story followed by the reading. After going through the story an interesting and apporpriate cartoon is shown to the children which reinforces the stroy. Towards the end of the unit the children are asked to translate the concept of their God given power to confront the Goliaths in their lives to control the "Big Problems" in their lives. As such, the younger children are asked to identify and depict their Goliaths through paintings or drawings. Shown below are scanned images from some of our younger children that represent the Goliaths in their lives.

The six year old creator of this Golliath says that snakes appear in his dreams. However, he is willing to love and appriciate the gifts God has presented to us in order to help maintain this precious earth. Hey, somebody has to love the snakes!!!

This young person says that maybe David used a rock and sling, but they will use a bow and arrow. Yea, it may be safe in the tent, but we don't need lots of armor to attack life's problems; a little faith in their abilities along with God's guidance and their courage to act are all that is necessary to tackle all Goliaths.

Tornados are a real problem and source of some scary thoughts. Yea, that tornado may be saying that " It is going to get you", but sometimes a little common sence combined with the faith that God is looking out for you is all that is necessary. After all, these things just blow themselves out!!!
