What is Unity?

Unity is a spiritual organization with beliefs based on the teachings of Jesus the Christ. We offer an "every-moment" approach to God, as Jesus taught. He told us God is always with us, ready to meet our every need.

Unity believes in one God who manifests in many ways-- as Jesus the Christ, Buddha, Krishna, and, yes, even ourselves. God, Divine Mind, is the Source and Creator of all. God is omnipotent (all-powerful) and omniscient (all-knowing). There is nowhere God is not and there is no other enduring power.

Jesus was both fully human and fully Divine. He is our "Way-shower;" our example of what is possible when we live fully from Spirit. Knowing and understanding the truth of life is not enough. A person must also live the truth that she or he knows to the level of their understanding.

Unity stresses seeing the Divinity in others, as well as ourselves, and does not discriminate on any basis. We are all one of Divine substance, and love is our expression of that Divinity. The following "Prayer for Protection" written by Unity's James Dillet Freeman says it well:

"The Light of God surrounds you,

The Love of God enfolds you,

The Power of God protects you,

and the Presence of God watches over you,

Wherever you are, God is,

And all is well!"
